Milestones are age-specific skills or behaviors that most children would have attained as they grew. These milestones offer ways of tracking the actual development in the child’s physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. Some of the milestones include crawling, talking, and building relationships with peers.
Primary Domains of Developmental Milestones
Physical milestone: sitting, walking, climbing
Cognitive milestone: problem solving and understanding the cause and effect relationship
Social-emotional milestone: sharing, ability to take turns and expressing feelings.
Milestones are good markers but not set. Every child progresses differently. Delayed little does not mean the child lags behind or has a developmental disorder.
