WHAT IS SPINA BIFIDA?

Spina bifida is a birth disorder resulting from the incomplete closure of the neural tube during the first month of pregnancy. This can cause spinal cord and nerve damage, leading to issues with movement, sensation, and bladder or bowel control. The severity of spina bifida varies, and management often involves surgical intervention and supportive therapies. With proper medical care and nurturing, children with spina bifida can lead normal, fulfilling lives. However, with proper nurturing and medical attention, the deformity should not hinder the child from living a normal childhood or a fulfilled, joyful adulthood.
